How to configure Samsung Knox for Remote Control on Android 15 and later
Samsung devices include a built-in API for screen capture and input simulation called Knox, which provides a wide range of enterprise mobility management (EMM) features specific to Samsung hardware.
Before Android 15, installing or deploying a fully functional Host app on Samsung devices was straightforward. Starting with Android 15, however, Samsung has introduced stricter requirements for when the Knox API can be used for remote control. In general, Knox Remote Control is now only available if the device is enrolled in Android Enterprise (AE) device management through an MDM solution such as Microsoft Intune.
To use Knox Remote Control on Android 15 or later, all of the following must be true:
- The device is enrolled in Android Enterprise (AE).
- The Host app is installed on a device enrolled in Device Owner (DO) or Profile Owner (PO) mode.
- The Host app is explicitly authorized by the IT administrator.
⚠️ Apps running only as Device Administrator (DA) — without DO or PO enrollment — do not meet these requirements and will lose access to Knox Remote Control on Android 15+.
A step-by-step guide for configuring Knox Remote Control is provided in section “7.3 Deploying the WiseMo Host using the Knox API method (Android 15 and above)” of the Intune Management Guide. Although written for Microsoft Intune, the procedure can be applied to most other MDM tools.
On Samsung devices running Android 15 or later that do not meet these requirements, the Host app will automatically suggest using the WiseMo Universal Add-on instead.
